Lesson: Always, ALWAYS have your camera

Friday afternoon I went into Montpellier. That sounds like quite the ordeal but it really isn't. It's Edina to downtown. West Des Moines to the Civic Center. I hung out, bought a couple of books and about 6 or so decided to head back to the house.

On my way back to the tram station, what do I stumble over? An outdoor market, filled with food, books, crafts and... wine tastings! Of course, in the name of "cultural experiences" I had to stay for that. A glass, three tastes (generous to say the least) and some conversation in French.
Most producers had more than one bottle and were delighted to have you taste all of what they produce so really 3 tickets meant three different wineries.
Evidently, this has been going on every Friday night all summer and will go two more I think. So, for 10 euros, I had a some tapas, a bucket of mussels and some good wine from the region.

The only bummer, if you can find one in this great Friday event, was that for the 2nd time, I didn't have my camera with me. There was tons that was photo-worthy and I stupidly said to myself, "I'm just going into town, I won't need a camera..." So, I'm adding this to my LONG history of needing to do things twice before I figure out the right way and won't be leaving home without my camera.

  1. Now I'm really jealous. What a wonderful afternoon, straight out of a Hemingway novel.
