Weekend #2: Life's a beach!!

The great thing about Montpellier is that as the weather map has shown snow, rain, hail, clouds, and everything terrible, 9 times out of 10, there is a sunny spot... right over me! So, Lenin, my fellow Fulbrighter came to see me and we headed out to the beach.

On Friday, we went to Palavas and discovered it was a whole weekend of festival going on. The Feria season has started and we were there just in time to see the French cowboys and the white Mustangs of the Camargue chasing the bulls and the kids who were trying to grab their tails or even take them down.

It wasn't the greatest beach day, a little chilly but we still found lots of activity. After some lunch we strolled from one side of town to the other and came across a demonstration of Newfoundland lifesaving dogs. There were volleyball competitions, kids building sand castles, everyone was hanging out and enjoying the beach even if they weren't swimming.
