Extra thought #3: Thanks!!!!

I just want to say thanks. I am sure I've written this before and I'm sure I'll mention it again, but the transition here has been relatively painless. I think daily of my friend Lowell who did 2 exchanges (both in the 1900s) or even when I was here in 1992 for the first time. Life was letters, postcards, and calling cards at payphones waiting for my friends and family to wake up. I know that technology has made all the difference in the world, but you all are on the other side using it and staying connected with me.

You email.
You skype. (so much that I can't answer everyone's call
when you all call on the weekends.)
You comment on the blog.
You Facebook. (is that a verb?)
You forward articles and videos.
You send pictures of things I'm missing.
You've proposed things to do/see when I get home.
You're still considering visiting (despite the crazy economy etc.)
And, one of you even sends snail mail. (I'm loving that!)

I am having a great time here and learning so much. I have had a great reception at school and with colleagues. The neighbors have been PHENOMENAL and I love them. This whole thing as so many of you know is something I've dreamt of for years. However, there is time I'm alone which is unavoidable and contact with you, my friends and family has been HUGE. So, thanks, it is greatly appreciated!
